Columbus series 3 review

Many of the same problems with no attention to detail was reported by many write ups. Columbus is still in the shop. Still don't know if the trailer can be repaired. New axle and Jackscrews required Oh, I almost forgot that our gray water tank developed a leaked and filled up the belly of the trailer which has insulation.

Cleaned that up, but I could never drive the trailer with any water in the tank or accidentally over fill it. Told to live with it. Too expensive to replace. Love My Columbus. Perfect interior layout. Even with the interior wall paper cringing and most of the drawers falling apart with wood screws too short to work. Yep, fixed that too. Remember this name. Forest River. Actuator which lifts roof has failed. All of course under warranty. Then fight to get repairs authorized, hear all the excuses and brush offs.

Neither issue is fixed. We love how this fully loaded RV can even fit in our driveway when stored away, yet when in use, folds out and feels so spacious inside. The perks of having a real porcelain toilet, a good-sized shower, a large kitchen sink, and three-burner stove instead of the usual two for this size really make this feel like you aren't skimping on the comforts of home.

The powerful AC unit and fan really keeps air moving so you can keep an optimal atmosphere. The fridge and freezer really surprised us with its large capacity. All in all, she's a gem. Even friends of ours with larger RVs were envious of the layout and modern style.

Perfect couples camper. Have spent 45 nights in it as of July We have been to Tennessee twice, Florida once and a local lake three times. Next trip is to Myrtle Beach for 2 weeks. My husband has upgraded the Leveling jack stabilizers, replaced the trifold couch with a Love seat duel electric recliner. Other than wishing it had more closet space and a ladder on the back it has been great so far.

Plenty of room for 2 adults and 2 fur babies. Tapped on it and it started working. Then we found out the roof leaks. When we picked it up from the dealer, a second motor quit working, they replaced that. Last week brought it back to a different dealer because the canvas sides pulled out of the roof, can only assume the motors raise too high and pulled the canvas out.

Leaked like a seive.. Worst thing we ever purchased. Installed on Gmc HD crew cab and left for Alaska for 5 weeks. Heater, AC, water tank and pump, all worked as they should. Fridge takes a while to get cold and seems to struggle a little on gas. Hot water heater was nice but hot water pressure seems low. Electric roof lift works as it should. Using manual Jack's to raise and lower camper was a pain, we later installed electric motors on jacks.

Had a couple on pieces of trim come loose inside camper, but gorilla glue quickly solved that problem. Queen bed is comfortable, but do wish another step was built in to access it. Not able to access storage lockers along side of bed unless top is lifted on camper, sometimes a pain. Power vents work great for ventilation. We cut down the size of the rectangular tabletop so you could more easily sit at dinette. Extra board used to turn dinette into a bed is stored upside down under sear cushion.

Had 1 leak in year 2 from seal around outside yellow porch light by doorway. Seal Had deteriorated. Cleaned and recaulked. Major issue has been yellow mold on and under seal where roof section lowers for traveling. A regular cleaning and treating of it has helped.

We do wish air conditioner fan would only run when cooling and not all the time, and I do wish it was easier to change water-filter on system. Not much room under bench for wiring, water tank and pump, water filter, battery, etc. Going on year 3 with the camper and still having fun in it. We do have the folding steps. They are great when camper is on the truck, but cannot leave the tailgate on and use them. Also, they are a pain to use when camper is off of the truck and lowered down.

We just use a good, solid milk crate as a step then. Also purchased a set of Stabil-Stiks to use when camper is off of the truck to help stop shaking and sway. Other than normal maintenance,no major issues. It has been a good camper that we continue to use..

I'm 66, my wife is Had it 2 days. Noticed that there was a bubble in floor. Close examination showed floor cut and glued. Following that the floor began to loudly creak and eventually the floor seemed to have loose boards. We returned the camper.

Recent MLHS articles. Kevin Papetti - Oct 24, 0. I got one of the black Columbus Les Paul copies when I was in school about 15 years ago. Apparently it had been stuck there for years waiting for someone to fix it up lol.

It still works although I am thinking of ripping all the old electrics out of it now and replacing them. Still stays in tune and it's almost as heavy as the real thing!

I bought one from a catalogue in around I always thought I had no taste, because to me there wasn't much difference between the sound of my columbus les paul copy and the real thing, but since then I have heard people saying good things about the old columbus.

Now 24 years later groan! I still love it, still feel closer to it than my fender strat, which I have had about 20 years. If You paid 7 quid for the columbus you robed him I have had one from new in I was 16 going on 17 It's paid for itself over and over am fitting a set of Seymour Duncan humbuckers and a roller bridge instead of the tune o matic and a roller nut an fixing a chipe off the head stock and the binding but its the black beauty copy so i might just paint the stock black and pin stripe We're the binding is also have an sg same year and make.

This guitar is fine if you personalise it with diferent pickups, sort the intonation out and good strings but to be honest virtually anything electric guitar wise is fine with a little help. Just pick it up, play it and enjoy. All the best. Circa It plays and sounds amazing and is wholly original. People assume its a Gibson until they see the headstock. Columbus were top end copies in their day and if you ever come across one Id recommend getting it.

Machine heads are good quality and intonation spot on. I also buy via auctions and car boots. A friend recently asked me to restore a Columbus strat copy which was completely knackered. I qouted him for at least for thirty hours work.

It was that bad!!!! He said " he could not afford it " so offered it to me for spares. Over christmas of last year I decided to completely restore it purely to test my repair skills, and 55 hours work later it was back to almost new condition. The big downer was that it would not play in tune above the fifth fret and on checking the intonation it was impossible to set correctly due to the bridge being mounted in the wrong place.

Lord knows how he had managed to play it in that state for 17 years and I hate to imagine what the band sounded like!!!! Another friend of mine owns a Jedson from the same period which also had exactly the same fault.

Could all these copies have come from the same factory and have been drilled using the same dodgy template? If you are offered one of these guitars check the intonation first and make sure there is enough adjustment available on the bridge to compensate, otherwise you will have to relocate the bridge. The neck is also incredibly narrow. Not suitable for big thick fingers and the selector switch is only three way. At least they copied that exactly right for the period.

Its an interesting guitar from those very early days of brit rock. I have a les paul Columbus that my father bought from England about 30years or so ago, he passed now so I cant get the exact date..

Columbus guitars were made in Japan's Matsumoku factory. I have never seen a Columbus acoustic guitar. I have a left handed Columbus LP in cream. Haven,t played it for about 5 yrs and is ready for a restring but a guitarist mate said it had a good action and sound. Think mine is a Japanese model with gold machine heads etc.

I still have it but almost gave it away but so glad I didn't. I hadn't touched it for years until recently and I have to say I'm glad I still have it. Casey and a coworker Rory Culkin have interesting discussions, sitting amidst the towering stacks, their conversations a blend of tentative flirting, kindness, and gentle debate.

One day, Jin bums a cigarette from Casey. They strike up a conversation. Over the course of "Columbus," Casey, obsessed with architecture, takes Jin around, showing him her favorite buildings she has a list. Jin is significantly older than Casey, but he treats her as a peer. There is instantly an intimacy between them, perhaps because both are so exhausted by their life circumstances.

Their dynamic is fascinating. There's an irritable quality to some of it, as though neither one of them wants to let the other "get away with" just skating off the surface of things. When Casey rattles off facts about the famous glass bank designed by Eero Saarinen, Jin gets bored. He pushes her to go deeper: what does the building make you feel? There were only a couple of moments when the script was a little on the nose. But even in those moments the characters were wandering through such interesting spaces that there was always plenty to look at.

Kogonada places their human figures against striking man-made backdrops with extreme care. He chooses his angles meticulously. There isn't an uninteresting shot in the whole thing. Shots repeat.
