She is very detail oriented and caught a couple of small changes between the plan and how our contractor executed it which would have certainly gone unnoticed from us. Swati, was ALWAYS reachable for advice during our engagement with her firm and also accompanied us to select accessories for the home.
With so many choices to make, she helped us narrow down the right piece every single time! We enjoyed working with her, at no point did she push us to make a decision in a rush or something we weren't comfortable. A little depleted, we looked for a designer, and could not have been more fortunate. We found Swati! Swati met with us to better understand our ideas and based on our discussion, had our plans revamped and ultimately available for us to "see," using her computer software, with a few different options for us to choose from.
It was so helpful for us to be able to actually see what the end result would look like. It wasn't enough for us to go off of the plans themselves. As novices, without the eye for design, that was really the icing on the cake. Swati is direct and efficient. She was timely and her services were within our budget. In our busy schedules, we needed someone who was easy to work with and followed through, true to her word.
We found that in Swati. Despite the fact that we had not initially planned on using a designer and had not budgeted for it, Swati's services were well worth the addition and we will continue to use her as we get into the construction.
Our only regret is that we didn't find Swati at the very beginning of our design process because I think she would have been even more helpful had we not already started with the contractor. When we decided to remodel our house along with an addition , we started looking for someone who could help us as an architect as well as an interior designer.
Swati's reviews on Houzz had us get in touch with her immediately. She was the only architect we met - we did not feel the need to look for any more architects because from the first meeting itself, Swati understood what we wanted, and we felt like we would enjoy working with her. Several years ago, we once had attempted to embark on a remodel but never got started.
At the time we had met a couple of architects. They would come to meet us at our house and start criticizing and pointing out inadequacies in the house yes, we knew all of that which is why the remodel!
When Swati first came to our house, she was excited about the possibilities in the house. Never once was she critical of anything. That positivity and hope that she gave us got us excited about the project as well.
We did a full remodel and an addition. Swati came up with the plans and worked with the city to get all permits. Ours is an old house, so there were some questions that came up because of the new city code. She ensured those were taken care of by visiting the city planning officials and getting clarifications from them. She is always available to answer questions and accommodate changes to the plan based on our preferences. Once construction started, she would visit the site regularly and even pointed out things that the contractor had missed.
The most exciting phase of the project was picking the interior finishes. We are no designers, and were not familiar with design lingo like 'modern', 'contemporary', etc. But Swati was quick to understand what our preferred style was and came up with mood boards that reflected that. Now I know that it is called 'mid-century modern' :.
She came shopping with us for everything from the floor, to the tiles, the fixtures, handles, kitchen cabinets. Like her design recommendations, her vendor recommendations are also spot on. I would like to stress on the word 'recommendations' because Swati was never pushy about the choices. She would lay the options before us, discuss the design pros and cons and let us make the decision. So our home today feels like it was designed by us, for us.
That is the best part of working with Swati - her design choices are impeccable, and she gives you guidelines which help you make the choices based on your style and personality. Swati is great to work with! We worked with her on our home remodel project that involved kitchen remodeling and addition of a new living room. When we engaged Swati,we were initially leaning towards limiting design options based on structural constraints. She listened to our requirements carefully and then brainstormed design options to cater to our needs.
She also gave us the confidence to include structual changes in our design and shared her experiences and also helped consult contractors to check feasibiiy and cost estimates. She worked with us patiently to make sure we finalize a design that we are perfectly happy with.

We wanted to add a bathroom and expand our living hall. Swati did awesome job in remodelling our old bedroom in bathroom and walk-in closet.
She added new master bedroom with vaulted ceiling. We were amazed the way she designed the master bedroom suite. Our living hall was small, she expanded our living hall and helped us in having formal dining room. This also required getting permits from the city and coordination with the structural engineering team. The project took about 6 months to complete. Working with Swati was amazingly great and she helped us through the entire project lifecycle from suggestions on new good ideas, to designing interior space, to creative rehaul of the existing space, to hand holding with selection of project items, getting permit, providing detailed designs for interior decor, tiling, painting etc.

Right from the get go what impressed us most about Swati was her professionalism and promptness. She thoroughly understood what we were looking for, helped us in visualizing and understanding several options that she proposed for the unit's design, and made it easy to lock down the final choice. Her rates also were very reasonable, so we felt comfortable in engaging her.
While she has an engineering firm that she works with closely, she never imposed that on us which we greatly respected. But, by going with the engineering firm she works with, it made the whole permit application process very streamlined. In fact, almost all the interactions with the engineering from were through her, saving us that additional time and effort. She also managed the permit application process with the city of San Jose where our property is located and the couple of times they asked for changes she was very, very prompt in responding to them and coordinating with the eng firm where needed thus ensuring the application was promptly refiled.
This is where we very really impressed - she actually regularly followed up on the online status and let us know that the approval was imminent which allowed us to begin engaging the contractor.
Even during construction , when her work is already completed, she periodically followed up on progress and even made site visits to check for herself. We needed a designer to draft our existing floor plan and a new floor plan. We happened to meet Swati Proposed Plan through the referral from an architect. Swati was very professional, flexible, and responsive. She handled all of our change requests in a very short amount of time.
On top of that, her pricing is very reasonable. We felt that she provided a lot of work for the amount of money she charged us. Furthermore, she is knowledgeable about the city requirements.
She guided us to get the necessary calculations needed to get the plan approved right away. We got the approval stamp from the city in one shot. Side note: When we were at the city to submit our plan, there was another designer stood next to us to submit the plan for a bathroom remodel as well.
The city planner actually used her plan as an example to show another designer what a great design looks like.
